Living in The Moment

Last year I found myself in a cyclical pattern of wishfulness. Our chilly winter days had me longing for beach days where I could feel the sun soaking into my soul, then by August I was wishing for those same cool days that I'd just wished away.

This year I'm doing my best to stay proactive with my planning so that I'm embracing the weather and the seasons of activities. That means it's kayak season right now.

My first adventure took me in the salt marsh bordering the Halifax River. I love that this mode of transportation gets you right into the wilds of Florida.

While I love a great boat ride with the wind in my hair, kayaks still fill the part of me that longs for water. Being out on the water is where I feel most at home.

My current marsh bird crush is the tricolored heron. I know the name of it because of my bird enthusiast teenage daughter. I love its deep color and elegant lines. So, I was all kinds of happy when I had the pleasure of seeing one up close.

These may not be beach days, but the days of hiking, kayaking, and outdoor exploring are upon us and I intend to embrace every moment.
